Daycare Department

The Daycare Department at Sirindhorn National Medical Rehabilitation Institute (SNMRI) is the first rehabilitation daycare in Thailand organized by government. Established in 2008, its purpose is to promote well-being and return to society, though social and health related services, adults with long term disabilities and elderly with disabilities which they can no longer manage independently. Many of these people have become isolated and lonely as a result of their disabilities or symptoms. The department focuses on enriching the participants’ lives, building upon their skills, knowledge, unique abilities and strength. We provide a safe, supportive, cheerful and socially engaging environment in which the participant can receive medical and rehabilitation care from an expert team. Bringing the family member to Daycare also gives family and caregivers a much needed break in which to attend to personal needs, or simply rest and relax. They also have the opportunity to learn techniques which can help them in providing basic care for their loved one. The purpose of Daycare is not to cure or remove disabilities, but to help the participant learn to accept the limitations of those disabilities and understand how they can still participate in social and family life.
